“You have power over your mind – not outside events. Realize this, and you will find strength” Marcus Aurelius
A pocket-sized mindfulness practice that is as easy as A, B, C.
A – is for Attention – look and listen to whoever is speaking or whatever is around you
B – is for Body – feel your feet on the ground and your body on the chair
C – is for Count – three breaths in and out
10th September 2021 is World Suicide Prevention Day.
According to the World Health Organisation, about one million people die by suicide each year globally. For every person who completes a suicide, 20 or more may attempt to end their lives.
In the UK, approx. 7,000 people die annually by suicide. It’s the biggest killer of men in the UK. Whilst 2019/2020 figures are not yet available, expectations are they’ll be higher given the pandemic. Some of us may have lost people we know to suicide, or have had thoughts ourselves.
So, whilst World Suicide Prevention Day aims to:
Every day is really suicide prevention day. Every day is mental health awareness day. So look after your mental health as you do your physical health. Watch out and look out for each other. Remember, it’s ok to not be ok; it’s not weak to speak and additional mental health support is available to everyone at RTA.
We hope you have all had a good Summer Holiday and have kept safe and well. We welcome new students to Reynolds Training Academy and we look forward to working with you and to another busy, productive and fun year ahead. We also welcome back previous students with enthusiasm and a great sense of purpose.
Please note the safety and wellbeing of our community remains our priority and we therefore continue to have a number of measures in place on site to ensure the safety of staff and students, and reduce the risk of COVID-19 transmission. These include enhanced cleaning and provision of cleaning products, measures to support good hand hygiene with plenty of sanitiser points, keeping the building well ventilated and support for staff and students with symptoms and who need to self-isolate.
Our recent DDEs all passed their Unit 4 exam. Phoebe Montague, Iga Pior, Lily Coward and Lydia Bentley. Lydia studied with us as a mature student having been to Birds, attending the weekly class. Congratulations and well done.
We will be introducing Tap as well as Modern to the curriculum.
Our first Level 4 course will be beginning at the end of the month and we are excited to get started and qualify our amazing students in Advanced Beauty Therapy.
